My cat vomited stool and cried in pain. Could it be an obstruction?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Female | spayed | 20 lbs

My friend's cat just vomited a well formed stool. She cried as if she were in pain right before she vomited. I think this could be an obstruction or perforation of the intestine. What do I need to do?

It's unlikely that Trouble vomited feces but her vomitus may have looked like it. If she is painful, not eating, and continuing to vomit I would recommend taking her in to the vet. They may recommend an X-ray to rule out an obstruction and give her some nausea medication to help with vomiting. Good luck.
