Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 6 years and 5 months old | 130 lbs
My dog, Australian shep., pit and terrier mix, has sores on his skin, one on his leg, a couple on his torso, one on his chest, etc. They feel like smaller ticks but aren't. He has white flakes in his coat and scratches often - I think he has dry skin but can't tell if his scratching and biting causes the sores or if his scratching is causing them. Is peroxide good to use??

Peroxide is a bad idea, it won't help with such a condition. Scratching can be caused by various reasons such as fleas, mites ,fungal infection, bacterial infection and allergies. the first 4 needs to be ruled out before we start treating for allergies. in order to do that first de-flea Cujo with a high quality flea treatment such as advantage spot on, if it doesn't help - take him to the vet in order to check for/treat the other possibilities. If everything is ruled out, then an allergy treatment can be started. Usually an hypoallergenic food is a good way to start together with anti histamines. if it doesn't help - the best solution is a medication called Apoquel which treats allergies with great success and without side effects.
