My dog got cleaner in his eye. What to do if I can't afford a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 40 lbs

My dog spilt my multi purpose cleaner ontop of himself and it got into his eye . We've bought a cone for his head so that he can't scratch at it , it ihas been red for two days and wash it with a warm face cloth every 1-2 hours . Is there any home remedies I can do for him if I can't get him to my vet right now ? Money is really tight , but if there's something else I can do , I'd really like to know

I would definitely recommend getting him into your vet. If his eye is still bothering him two days later, there could be damage to his cornea that needs to be treated. Delaying treatment could make it more costly in the long term or put his vision at risk. He may need special antibiotic eye medication or other medications if the chemicals created an ulceration on his cornea. He should be seen as soon as possible to avoid this condition worsening and costing you more in the end!!!
