Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 11 months old
Over the last few days my cat has been pulling out hair on the back of her neck creating bold spots. She has also cut herself. She is flea treated on a regular basis so I dont think its fleas. I ahve removed her collar incase its causing anixety as i know she hates them, but I am worried about the cuts she is causing. Do you know why she is doing this?

Ouch, poor Belle! Some cats will scratch and pull out hair when they become itchy from underlying allergies (to fleas, food or the environment), ringworm or mange. With excessive itching, skin infections can develop which require antibiotics for treatment. Less frequently, some cats will overgroom and itch as a stress response. I'm glad to hear that she is receiving flea prevention regularly, but remember that not all flea preventions are equivalent, so make sure that you are using a high quality product, such as Advantage, Bravecto or Revolution. At this point, Belle should take a trip to her vet for an exam and may need a course of antibiotics and steroids to manage her current skin lesions and itching. I hope that all goes well!
