I've noticed my kitten has been itching the same spots for a while now. My mother was cornered about her having fleas, but I can't feel or see any. I've read that bathing your kitten with original Dawn dishwasher will kill them, but she's still itching herself especially her neck. I'm planning on taking her to the vet soon for her first checkup but I'm still curious if there is something I can do to help her at the moment.

Do not bath her in Dawn dishwasher as this will do absolutely nothing to the fleas!. This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea cat regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or cyclosporin in order to stop the allergy.
