Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 4 years and 1 month old
I have two Munchkins and one is fine but the other seems to have big kitty claws with little kitty paws and she has trouble retracting them properly. We didn't think it would be too much of a problem but when she gets caught it either causes her pain or some sort of emotional distress. We're considering getting her front paws declawed, but she's already four years old. Is it still unethical? She's not a baby but getting stuck so often distresses her...

Before declawing Izzy I would recommend other options such as trimming her nails every couple of weeks or soft paws. Declawing is actual amputation at the last joint of the toes and can be a painful surgery that is not without complications. Adult and older cats are more prone to potential complications. If you're unsure of trimming her nails yourself your vet clinic should be able to show you how. At least try these other options first and see if it helps the problem as surgery is not reversible. https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/cat-care/cat-grooming-tips https://www.softpaws.com/
