My pregnant Shih Tzu is itchy. Can I give her Benadryl or ointment?

Can i give my shitzu benadryl to ease her itchiness even if she is pergnant? if not cani just use a bethametasone ointment for her? thank you so much...

No you should not give any medications and especially human medications whilst pregnant. Your vet may be able to investigate the underlying causes and prescribe safe treatment for her if infections or parasites are present

    You can give her up to 2-3 doses of Benadryl (2-3 days), it is considered relatively safe for pregnant dogs. alternatively or at the same time you can use bethametasone ointment BUT you will need to put an e-collar around her neck as it is not safe for her if she licks it (because of the pregnancy).
