Is my dog having an allergic reaction after his recent vaccines?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 33 lbs

My 8yr old Cockapoo had the Bordetella vaccine-intranasal this afternoon as well as 2 other vaccines & Prohart. He's acting nervous, constant licking of his face, body & shaking his body like after a bath or if he's wet over & over again! Also, rubbing his face on everything. He won't lay down for an extended period of time before getting up & starting all these things again. The shaking his body, licking & scratching has me concerned about an allergic reaction. Like his skin is uncomfortable

It is possible he's having a mild allergic reaction to one of the vaccines or proheart6 from earlier. You could try giving him benadryl (legally I cannot advise on the dose) and if that doesn't help him, or if things get worse you could take him to the nearest veterinary urgent care.
