My 3-week-old kitten has liquid poop. Should I take her to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi. I recently got a rescued kitty that was abandoned by its mother at 3 weeks old three days ago. At first she was only peeing but not pooping, but that was probably because I wasn't stimulating her properly. Last night, I got her to poop and ever since then, every time she would urinate, she would poop as well and her poop is not solid. I'd like to know if there's anything I can do before going to the Vet or Should I see a Vet ASAP?

I would make it a priority to get to the vet with this little girl. The main reason is that at this age, they are highly prone to dehydration with any excessive fluid loss. What you are describing is known as "secretory diarrhea," meaning they pass is really without any effort, and it can be a sign of several different types of gastrointestinal infections. I would get her in right away.
