Is human lysine safe for cats? My vet prescribed it, but it's costly.

my vet prescribed lysine powder for my adult male cat. can i use nature made supplements for humans ? Its the same amino acid and its much cheaper

I would also like to add that sourcing is a big issue for supplements. Apart from the palatabity, some companies are better than others. If you choose this route, make sure you speak with someone in a supplement specialty store about reputation. Since there is no governing body for supplements, contaminants are possible.

    Yes, you can. However, this is a giant, unflavored tablet and good luck getting this into your cat! The veterinary formulation that I use comes in flavored cat treats or flavored paste, and is therefore much easier and palatable to your cat :).
