Why does my cat chew cords & chargers? How can I get her to stop?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year and 9 months old | 9 lbs

Skye has been chewing hand shredding cardboard. Lately she has taken to cords and chargers. I don’t want to keep replacing them but more importantly I don’t want her getting electrocuted. Why is she doing this? How can I get her to stop?

This is pretty normal cat behavior. Often they do this out of boredom. I suggest you put some Feliway diffusers in your house and do some environmental enrichment for her. Usually these two things help.
