My dog chipped his canine tooth. Does he need urgent vet care?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | neutered | 2 years and 7 months old | 80 lbs

My dog chipped an upper and lower canine teeth. Im unsure how to care for it and if i should bring him to the vet asap

I would recommend seeing a vet soon. although I wouldn't consider this an emergency. In your picture it looks like the pulp cavity may be affected, and if this is the case and you get to a vet right away a root canal might be an option. Otherwise extracting the tooth is probably recommended. If the pulp cavity is affected it can be painful, so you may want to see a vet for a prescription for a safe pain medication.

    I recommend Lincoln get checked out by a veterinarian that is familiar with dentistry. Depending on if there is tooth canal exposed or not he could be at risk for an infection at the root. He may need sedation and dental x-rays for full evaluation of this tooth.
