My cat has a bump on his neck for years. What could it be? Is it safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 7 years and 1 month old | 13 lbs

My car has had this one back of his neck for over 6 years. Doesn’t seem to bother him but when I pet him I always feel it. I guess just want to make sure it’s ok. Have a pic.

This looks like a sebaceous plug (cyst). I would not be worried about it especially since it has been there so long without causing any problems. Next time you have her to the vet just point it out so they can have a look at it. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
