Hello there! Cats are seasonal breeders. They typically start going in to heat in the warmer months (spring and summer). They will continue to go into heat repeatedly until they are bred and pregnant. This can last several months until the seasons change the weather gets cooler again. There is not anything you can do to prevent her from going in to heat other than to spay her. If you do not wish to have her have kittens you should keep her inside AT ALL times and away from any male cats. So if you have another intact male cat she will need to be isolated away from him too. A male cat will be able to smell her phermones and will seek her out to breed her and this can happen quickly. So take precautions unless you want to have kittens. I hope this information has been helpful to you. I wish you and Milo all the best!
