Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 3 days old | 45 lbs
My puppy recieved her Distemper-adenovirus type2-parainfluenza-parvovirus vaccine 2 days back. I notice a swelling(under the skin) at the site of vaccination (which is near her last ribs). Is it common or should I see a vet?

That could be a local reaction at the injection site which is not uncommon and could resolve without treatment in the next 48hours. If not self-resolving or getting any worse in terms of swelling/painful/red a check up would otherwise needed. You can see some localized swelling at the vaccine site, and this swelling on Sadie could be normal. The swelling should go down in a day or two, but if it does not, then I would take her back into the vet for an exam.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sometimes dogs can develop mild swelling and pain at the injection site as well as lethargy and inappetence for 24-72 hours post-vaccination. If that does not resolve by then have her evaluated by your veterinarian. I think it is very likely that she will be fine in that time frame. Good luck and have a great day!

Yes, you can see a swelling at the site of an injection, and you can try putting a cold compress on it to see if it helps the swelling to go down. This swelling should go down in a couple of days, but if it doesn't and/or gets bigger, give your vet a call. Best of luck.
