My dog has demodex. Is face draining normal? Is it contagious?

My dog is diagnosed with Canine Demodicosis He is 4 months now The skin of his face drain kind of liquids Is this part of healing and how long does it take for healing And i want to know can this be transferred to human beings i am so worried

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Tyson. Demodex is a normal mite for dogs. Most pups will acquire it from the mother. It lives in the hair follicles of the skin. Puppies, such as yours, will experience an overgrowth of the mites. This will lead to a secondary bacterial skin infection. He may require an antibiotic in addition to the treatment you are using for the mites. A medicated shampoo that flushes the hair follicles is very helpful as well. You would just not want to get it in his eyes. Look for a shampoo that contains benzoyl peroxide. This is not a disease contagious to humans. I hope this information helps!
