Why does my cat have chronic ear infections and how can I help?

Hello, my cat has had this problem with it’s ears for a year or so now and I want to know what it is and how to make it better, thanks.

They are very infected. It may be from ear mites and he is shaking and scratching causing sores. It can be from sun damage or old injuries or wounds. He should be seen by a vet to have them cleaned. This will likely require sedation. They may have to amputate part of it and start a strong antibiotic
