Why is my dog still itchy and scratching his back after flea shampoo?

My dog turns to look at his back quite often as if something is moving there and he has also increased scratching. I gave him a bath with anti tick and flea shampoo for 3 weeks at one week interval according to the instructions of his vet. What could be the reason for this behaviour? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 49 lbs

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Cooper. It sounds like he is very itchy. This can happen secondary to dry skin from the flea and tick shampoo. You can try bathing him with a moisturizing conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula. I like Hylyt creme rinse. If this is the case, this should relieve his symptoms. If not, then I worry he is still experiencing itching from whatever the initial skin problem was. I hope this information helps!
