My cat hates nail trims. What's the best way to cut her nails safely?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Cutting a cat's nails is an important skill to learn when they are young. I would first get Iris used to holding still and having her paws handled. You can buy toenail clippers, and the most important thing to be cautious of is the blood vessel and nerve ending in the nail. Typically this is something that you can see by looking at each toenail when it is extended. Once you have seen where you want to cut you can trim each nail to an appropriate length. If she becomes irritated, I would stop and then restart on a different day. If you would like a demonstration, I would recommend reaching out to your veterinarian to see if they can show you as well.
