Can a husky stay outside in hot summer weather with shade and water?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Can I leave my husky outside in the garden at summer although the weather gets really hot in my country but I’ll always provide him with shade, water and ice or will he overheat?

Hello. You should be able to leave your husky out with what you have available for him. But I will add one more thing you can do for him. Make sure you strip out his undercoat completely ( you will probably need a groomer to do this ). I do not recommend shaving a northern breed, but removing the undercoat & leaving the top coat should keep him pretty comfortable. Of course, if he does seem to suffer from the heat, you may need to bring him into an airconditioned environment for some parts of the day. See how he does & just use good judgement. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
