Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 7 years and 6 months old

My cat wont stop scratching, licking and biting her base of the tail on her back. Shes super uneasy. A slight touch will make her go crazy and run off.

I would make sure she doesn't have fleas. This is the most common area for fleas to gather and cause major itchiness and irritation. You can try some Benadryl to help control the itch. Unfortunately, they usually need something a little stronger like a steroid shot to help get them more comfortable. I would also make sure you have her on a high quality monthly flea preventative. Your vet would have the best options. Finally, fleas don't live just on the pet but mainly in the environment so I would definitely get your house and yard sprayed for fleas as well. I hope this helps and she starts to feel better soon. See link below. https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/cat/benadryl/
