My male dogs are fighting. Will neutering help stop their fighting?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I have 8 dogs, 4 male and 4 female and all shih-tzus. 2 dogs in particular have been fighting lately, both male, 1 and 4 yrs old. Im considering having them both castrated, will it help or keep them from fighting?

I am sorry to you are having a difficult situation with your dogs! If they are not currently neutered then this may help decrease aggression between the two and would be recommended, but it is not always a surefire fix to aggression issues, but a first step. I would recommend talking to your vet about a veterinary behaviorist or trainer to work with you on finding a solution for your dogs in case the neutering does not fix the issue.
