My dog has black, oozing, crusted sores on her neck. What is it?

My 3 year old schnoodle has two black, crusted sores, that seem to be oozing pus on each side of her neck area. Her fur is sticking to these spots. She has been scratching at the spots, which caused me to take a close look. What could these sores possible be?

That appears to be a skin infection. You would need to have Daisy examined by your veterinarian to diagnose a bacterial or fungal infection. Ideally, the spots should be shaved to better evaluate them then cleaned. Treatment may be systemic, topical or a combination. You can use an e-collar (cone) to prevent licking or chewing until she sees the doctor.
