My two healthy dogs died suddenly. Was it choking or something else?

Two of my big dogs have died for the same reason in a matter of months. They were perfectly healthy and supposedly died by choking on dog food. Any idea what the actual cause might have been? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 13 years and 5 months old | 15 lbs

I'm very sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, there are many different things that can cause sudden death in dogs - choking is one possibility, as well as a sudden stroke or cardiac arrhythmia, toxin ingestion, internal bleeding, etc. The only way to know for sure would be to have an autopsy done (called a necropsy in animals). Again, I'm very sorry for your loss.
