Why is my healthy 9-year-old dog's belly skin turning black?

My dog is 9 years old and very healthy. He's my service dog. Lately or for the last year or so his skin on his belly has been getting blacker it is normally tan. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 9 years old | 85 lbs
