How to stop my new puppy from playful biting and chewing everything?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 1 month and 24 days old | 75 lbs

My dog that I just brought home yesterday that is eight weeks old keeps chewing on things and biting not to be mean, just to play. How do I stop this?

The best thing to do is to make a loud, high pitched noise when he bites you and then give him a toy or chew that is appropriate for chewing. It will seem like he's not getting it, but realize that this is a phase and if you're consistent he will stop.
