My dog has rough growths on his paw pads. How can I treat them?

It looks like your dog has "hyperkeratosis." This can be seen following distemper infection, it can be seen with zinc-responsive dermotosis (though Colt's age and breed aren't typical for this) and can be seen with an infection from a bacterial called Leishmania (though this is rare and not seen in the US). It is most often "idiopathic" meaning no one knows what caused it. You can trim the excess away (it's like a callous--it won't hurt to trim it off) and keep the pads moisturized with a product such as this: https://veterinary-practice.com/article/idiopathic-nasodigital-hyperkeratosis
