My mixed dog looks like a Shiba/Husky. How to find her true breeds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 33 lbs

I was wondering what kind of breeds could be in my mixed breed dog. For me she looks, and acts like Shiba/husky. She has this cute fat face with small, cone shape ears.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Mercy. I believe that she is a German Shepherd mix. She could also have the breeds that you have mentioned as well. If you really want to know, there are at home dog DNA test kits. You submit a cheek swab to the laboratory and receive a print out of her breed combination based on genetic testing. It is kind of fun to do. I hope this information helps!

If you want to know the breed of your dog you should do a DNA test. I don't know how readily available these tests are in your country. Maybe you could get it shipped to you? Without the test we would all just be guessing. ( https://www.wisdompanel.com/ )

Mercy may have some Shepherd and even Corgi (the short legs) too! Your vet may be able to offer a wisdom panel/genetic screen blood test that is sent out and delivers the exact genetic/breed make-up of your dog generally within 4 weeks! This is available in the US and is similar to a Ancestry.com for humans. Owners are often surprised by the mix they receive in the report. Good luck!
