My dog's nose is dry and crusty. What can I put on it to heal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 9 years and 5 months old | 75 lbs

I have a 9yr old pit bull whose nose has recently become dry and crusty on the top. I clean it and put neosporin on it twice a day, but some days it looks worse than others. What can I use to help heal it?

This is a loss of pigment. The most common reason for this is an autoimmune disease. I recommend a veterinary exam and diagnosis. Usually this will not heal without specific treatment for the disease. You are doing a good job keeping this from getting infected but he needs additional treatment for this to heal.
