My lab collie mix is about 10 months old and incredibly well behaved. She walks with us without a leash, stays when told, comes when called, you name it. However, she gets SO excited whenever anyone (myself included) walks to her that she jumps. She doesn't put her paws on you, but she definitely startles people at best, and scares them at worst. She has been so trainable, but we can't break her if this. We've tried ignoring her when she jumps to no avail. H How can we teach her to stop jumping?

You could try teaching her to sit when anyone approaches her. Ask friends and family to help with the training. Give them treats ahead of time to give to Jasmine once she sits down. They should ask her to sit and not pay attention to her or reward her until she does. Gradually length the amount of time she has to sit before she gets the reward. Be patient and consistent. You could also go to a pet store and ask strangers to help if they are comfortable. Please post again if this doesn't help and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
