My cat has scabs and dandruff on her back for a year. What's wrong?

My cat has two scab like things on her back and it's been there for almost a year. Also if you rub the area around the scabs it makes a dandruff like substance. Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 8.25 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a skin infection. You can try to use an anti-microbial shampoo to bathe her to see if there is improvement. You may find this online or at your local pet store. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good night!
