My dog drank hot chocolate. Is it dangerous? Should I call the vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | 1 year and 3 months old | 70 lbs

hello, my 1 year and 4 month golden doodle got into my mcdonalds peppermint hot chocolate. luckily less then a quarter was reamining in a small cup. and most of it spilled on the floor and the coffee table. should i take him to the vet? do i need to be home to observe his condition?

If this was milk chocolate then there is a very low risk that this was enough to cause any major issues with your pets. Dark chocolate has a bit higher rate of toxicity risk, but even still it would have to be ingestion of the powder directly for that to be considered a substantial ingestion amount. If it was only a quarter size of liquid left then they should be fine. Continue to feed them normally and monitor for the next 24 hrs for any upset stomach symptoms (i.e. vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite) and have the seen by your vet if this occurs, but again there is a very low chance this will.
