Hello, congratulations on your new kitten. It sounds like she may have an upper respiratory tract infection and may need some medications to help her feel better. Other causes for this may include an ulcer in her eye or an eye infection. These can be further diagnosed with a physical exam by your primary care veterinarian. And if needed, they will be able to prescribe her the medications to help treat her eye discharge. In the interim, please also monitor for any sneezing, nasal discharge, loss of appetite, lethargy, or even vomiting. If you note any of these then have her seen sooner. Please don't allow her to rub at her eyes. You may clean excessive discharge with a damp cotton ball. Hope this helps and best of luck.

You can try keeping the eye clean and dry. Use a moist, warm wash cloth to gently wipe it clean. Do not instill any medication into the eye without the advice of your veterinarian. If the discharge does not resolve or worsens, the kitten will need to be examined by your veterinarian. Discuss payment plans or alternative financing options such as CareCredit (www.carecredit.com) with your veterinarian.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Tigger. I am concerned that he has an eye infection. He could also have a scratch across the surface of his eye. This can occur secondary to a viral infection. He will need to see his veterinarian tomorrow. In the meantime, encourage him to eat and drink. Keep his eyes clear of discharge by gently wiping them with a warm cloth. I hope this information helps!
