Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 7 months and 17 days old | 17.6 lbs

Hi, I took my 8month puppy to the dog park and was carrying him on my chest. He got abit too excited and jumped off my chest and landed wrong on his front leg and started yelping for over 15 seconds. He cant put any weight on his right front leg. Just took him to the vet but they said because he had just eaten a few years ago they cant give him the injections that hes needed and will have to come back tomorrow to do them and get the xrays done. Any thoughts?

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Injections to sedate him for X-rays? It is always risky to sedate a pet that just ate because the anesthesia can make them nauseous and they could vomit and aspirate. We tend to try to take the X-rays with out sedation if the animal isn't too rowdy or painful. It sounds like he needs the X-rays to see if a bone is broken. It could be just a strain or sprain but it could be a broken toe or more seriously a broken long bone that would require anesthesia. He should be fine tonight as long as you keep him confined and they provided pain medications. I wish you both the best!
