What should I do about a crusty, growing lump on my old dog's side?

This growth appeared on my 8 yr old Beagle mix about 2 months ago It has grown from a small bump to this nasty looking growth on his side. I've been watching it and can't tell if it's still growing. He doesn't lick it or act like it bothers him unless you mess with it. I have pics of it, but it looks like a crusty wart attached to a tube-like thing coming out of his side. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 18 years and 7 months old | 50 lbs
