My kitten keeps suckling his brother's stomach. Why and how to stop?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi, I have two 10 week old male kittens. They are brothers. One has been recently trying to suck on the others stomach area. I am not sure what to do or how to stop him. Why is he doing this and what can I do? Thank you!

Suckling behavior can be a relaxation behavior for some kittens and is very normal. If you notice him doing it and don't want him to, simply try to distract him with a fun toy to play with, a treat, or other object to get him focused on something else.
