My indoor cat got out, now looks pregnant. How far along is she?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

My cat is an indoor cat but some weeks ago she managed to get out. She was only out for about 5 hours. Now her stomach is large. Her nipples are large and pinkish but not pinky/reddish. I can feel babies in her but not see them move. How far pregnant can she be? Can not remember when she got out

Cats are pregnant for about 65 days on average. Unfortunately, there isn't any easy way to tell how far along she is, but your best option would be to have your veterinarian examine her and take x-rays. Keep in mind that we cannot tell on x-ray that they are pregnant until they are 45 days along, so your veterinarian may recommend waiting on that depending on what they feel on exam. I have also attached a link below with more information on the cat reproduction cycle for you. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=1738 Good luck! I hope that was helpful.
