Does My Dog Have a Cold? Please suggest me how to recover my dog? If your dog is coughing, has a runny nose, or is slightly off-colour, you may be inclined to think they have a cold However, the human cold is not contagious to dogs. So the short answer is no, your dog doesn’t have a cold.

Your dog could be suffering from an upper respiratory infection. So if your dog is coughing, has a nasal discharge, has problems breathing, you should take him to a vet for an exam and prescription medication.
