Why is my dog trying to pee often but only a few drops come out?

Question

Shadow is trying to urinate but she is only able to go just a few drops? This stared yesterday about 8 am she is trying about every 3 minutes. She pooped about 2 a.m. and she is eating and drinking well. What could this be? Could she of swallowed something? Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 1 day old | 60 lbs

Hi there and thanks for posting! if all else is normal otherwise and she is currently urinating only a few drops and does this frequently-this is a little suspicious of a urinary tract infection or other urinary issue such as bladder stones. I would recommend she visit with your veterinarian soon for an exam and urinalysis to rule out a urinary tract infection. If your veterinarian is suspicious of urinary stones, an x-ray may be taken as well. She may need to be on antibiotics or other medications as needed.
