Kitten's ear patch growing, scratching. Could it be ringworm?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 month and 8 days old | 7.94 lbs

Coco is 5wks old & weighs 0.97lb. The day I adopted her I saw a tiny furless patch on her left ear, about 0.3mm. When I took her to vet she recommended application of Betadin ointment but the patch increased in size covering almost half of her ear. Vet made me switch to soframycin ointment since yesterday. Also she scratches it once in a while. And has mild flatulence issues. Reluctant to have water eats well though but usually with long gaps due to her playtime or naps.

Hello, I would advise you to consult your veterinarian to test Coco for ringworm and mites. Ringworm is contagious to humans. So wash your hands and keep Coco in a confined area until we have ruled it out as a cause.
