My puppy is licking his paw and won't let me touch it. Is he hurt?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 9 months and 20 days old | 13 lbs

My 9 month old puppy is excessively licking and biting his front left paw. He does not allow me to get near nor touch it. What can I do

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This may be due to a wound, an infection or growth in that region. Knowing what is exactly affecting Tyson will require an examination by a veterinarian. I recommend that you have Tyson evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to see what the issue seems to be and treat accordingly. In the meantime, you can consider using an e-collar to try to prevent further self-trauma. Good luck and have a great day!

    Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You may want to have Tyson seen by his veterinarian soon to make sure there is nothing stuck in his paw or does not have any cuts, scrapes, or fractures to the paw. Starting with a veterinary exam would be my recommendation on this one. I hope this helps and best of luck to you and Tyson!
