Dog has fleas after Frontline. What can I use with it or instead?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 11 years and 11 months old

My dog has a flea infestation. I used Frontline Gold on him on July 11th; however, I'm still finding fleas and flea dust on him. Is there anything I can use in conjunction with the Frontline. Maybe something natural until I can use more Frontline next month?

Hi there. In my experience, there is tremendous resistance to Frontline in the flea population, and I have not seen it be effective for several years now. So I would recommend switching to a different product for better flea control. The best option would be an oral medication like Nexgard or Bravecto, which you can get from your veterinarian or order online with a prescription. These can be given along with Frontline, so you could start the new medication now - no need to wait until next month.
