My dog's paw pads are thick and he chews them. Is it hyperkeratosis?

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male

Is this hyperkeratosis, if yes what treatment is needed, he chew his paws, i have concerned with my vet but he is not sure about it. There is no other facility of vet .my dog is under treatment of epilepsy too. I m extremely disturbed . Kindly help.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. To answer your question, yes, this is paw pad hyperkeratosis. I've had success using a balm called BioBalm by Dermoscent, which helps reduce this. In these cases, I also trimmed the overgrown pad with scissors or a dremel file. I would discuss this with a veterinarian there so that you can have this addressed appropriately. I hope this helps!
