Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 6 months old | 40 lbs
My dog is flea infested this summer , last summer he wasn’t so I don’t know why now. I give him regular baths but he is a outside dog(pit bull) so I don’t know what to do. When he goes outside he gets the fleas back and worse then before. What is the best soap to use ? And also what can I do to the yard?

Hello, sorry to hear about Romeo. You will need more than baths to get rid of the fleas. You should consider starting him on flea medications to kill the fleas and not just wash them off of him. This will protect him from fleas for an entire month. Products you can use include advantix, nexguard, or even advantage. There many other products that your veterinarian can offer to you. Finally, there are insecticides for your yard that you can spray once weekly to kill the fleas. In addition, you will need to treat your house as well as there can be alot of immature fleas in the carpet, bedding, and sofas. There are also in-house sprays to use indoors to treat for fleas. Typically, heavy infestation of fleas require all or a combination of this treatment. Contact your veterinarian to see which kind of flea medications they have for Romeo. They may also have yard and house spray for sale. In the interim, you can continue to give him baths. They do sell flea shampoos at local pet stores to help kill fleas and not just wash them off. You can try one of these as well. Hope this helps and best of luck.
