My Shih Tzu's eyes are red and puffy. Can his lost vision be saved?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | unneutered | 5 years and 6 months old

Hello, i took my shihtzu to two different vets due to the redness of his eyes and the doctor told me that he lost his vision and prescribed me eye cream. The bleed stopped but his eyes are still huge and buffy should i take him once again? Is there hope that his vision is still there? Im really worried

The one eye int he picture has a lot of crusting material around the eye and the eye itself appears to be enlarged. If the veterinarian did not check the eye's pressure, then I would take Friday back to be rechecked and have his pressure tested to see if this is glaucoma and needs different treatment. If not treated in time, the eye can rupture and he may need to lose the eye. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
