Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. At 4 months puppies are loosing their baby teeth as their adult teeth erupt. Monitor for signs of swelling or pain but I suspect it was just a loose baby tooth knocked out.

Puppies generally swallow many of their baby teeth, so we often don't see them lose baby teeth until they start to lose their canines, pre-molars and molars. Those teeth are often large enough that they cause bleeding, so we notice when they lose those those teeth. 4 months is a little young to lose a canine tooth (they generally don't lose those until 5-6 months), so it might be worth making sure that he lost the entire tooth (including the root) and not just the crown (the top part). If you have the tooth, you can have your vet look at it to make sure. Sometimes puppies can break their puppy canines if they are playing roughly. Otherwise, I don't think there is anything to be worried about. I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
