Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year and 4 months old | 35 lbs

my dog is a year and a half old, and she is potty trained. She has accidents here and there at night, but recently she has been peeing A LOT at night. There would be puddles and puddles on the floor.we take her out around midnight and she is usually good till we get up around 6. do you think something is wrong? When she has accidents at night, its not nearly as much pee as it has been recently.

I would highly suspect she has a urinary tract infection. This causes the bladder to be inflamed, so pets can't hold their urine as well as they once could, causing accidents in the home and frequent urination. I would recommend taking her to your vet to have her urine tested. If she does have a UTI, which is common in female dogs, and it is an uncomplicated case, a short course of antibiotics should clear things up. Best of luck with Lola moving forward and I hope you can get her inappropriate urination episodes resolved soon. Until you can get her in to be seen, it is best to take up her water at night to prevent her from drinking more and urinating more through the night. Best wishes and take care!
