My dog is licking his penis, it's red and inflamed. What can I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 65 lbs

My male dog is scratching/licking penis area and it has become rough black skin with broken skin areas that are red and inflamed. Is there something i can do at home?

Ouch! Poor Buddy! This looks like the skin may have a yeast or bacterial infection or both. You can try Benadryl twice a day and put a cone collar on him to prevent the licking. If he continues to lick, it will never get better. See link below. If you have a cone on him, you could also use some Benadryl spray and Neosporin on the open wounds to see if they improve. If they aren't improving or if they are continuing to get worse, I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to determine the cause and get him on the proper meds and even stronger allergy meds if needed. I hope this helps! https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/benadryl/#
