What is this growth on my dog's leg that's not bothering her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Female | spayed | 12 years and 7 months old | 40 lbs

Hi, my beagle has this thing growing out from her front leg. It started very small and has grown to this size over about a year. It does not seem to bother her and is not sensative to touch. Any idea what this is?

Hi there. From what I can see in the photo, this looks consistent with a skin tag - a type of benign (non-cancerous) skin growth that is common in older dogs. Some of them can grow to be quite long and dangly :) To be safe, I would recommend having this checked by your vet in person when you are able to. He/she may recommend a biopsy or surgical removal if there is any concern.
