My cat lost a tooth, is it an emergency or should I see the vet?

It's likely not an emergency, but as soon as you can, yes, you should take ChiQui in to see her vet. For one thing, you can't guarantee that there isn't some of the tooth left in the gum, and if so it will likely contribute to formation of an infection that will not heal. Secondly, if one tooth just fell out, there is likely a lot of other dental disease, so she needs a dental cleaning.

    Thank you for submitting your question regarding Gypsy. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian. The canine tooth is very large and it would take significant dental disease for it to fall out on its own. She will need to have the rest of her mouth evaluated and see if there is disease elsewhere in her mouth. You also want to ensure the tooth came out in its entirety and there is not a portion of root left behind. If root is still present, it can lead to an abscess in her mouth.
